Khajuraho
The Marvel of Khajuraho Temples
Built between the 9th and 11th centuries by the Chandela dynasty, the temples of Khajuraho are renowned for their intricate stone carvings and stunning craftsmanship. Of the original 85 temples, around 20 remain, grouped into Western, Eastern, and Southern temple complexes.
-
Western Group: The most famous and well-preserved, featuring the majestic Kandariya Mahadev Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva.
-
Eastern Group: Includes Jain temples like Parshvanath and Adinath, reflecting the religious diversity of the region.
-
Southern Group: Lesser-known but equally captivating, with temples like Dulhadev.
What sets these temples apart is their sensual sculptures and symbolic art, portraying not just eroticism but the spiritual philosophy of life, love, and liberation.
